Manor was a natural leader. His ability to attract and keep efficient people was the key to his companys immediate and continuing success. He was flexible and worked constantly to meet the changing and ever increasing complexities of the industry. Wally T. Sigmundson joined the Manor organization in 1950 as a partner in charge of estimating and office administration. In 1960, the firm incorporated, and Sigmundson became executive vice president. He also became "the other stockholder" with W. D. Manor. After 30 years as head of the company, W. D. retired in 1975 and Wally took over as president. After 28 years, Wally retired in 1978 and sold the company to Robert J. Leivian, Ron Turlington, David Manor, and Bill Crowe. In 1987, W.D. Manor ventured into Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) to provide additional service to its growing customer base and offer a full complement of mechanical services under one roof. Ron Turlington retired from W.D. Manor in 1992 and in 1995, Bill Crowe became the sole owner of W.D. Manor Plumbing and Heating. The company relocated from the 27th Avenue location which it occupied for 41 years, to its current 23rd Avenue location in 1996 and changed its name from W.D. Manor Plumbing and Heating to W.D. Manor Mechanical Contractors. In 1999 Bill Crowe sold the company to Bryan
DeWitt, Don Petty and Keith Crowe. Today, W.D. Manor serves the entire state
of Arizona, generating revenue of $25 to $30 million, and employing over 200
people. |
